Russia's president has described the recent crash of a Russian passenger jet in Egypt as a great tragedy calling for an objective picture of the incident.
Vladimir Putin called on investigators to exercise all necessary caution as the site of the crash is prone to terrorist attacks. However, US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has rejected any direct evidence of terrorist involvement in the plane crash. Forensic investigations have begun on bodies brought from the ill-fated plane which was en route to Russia from Egypt. Relatives of the victims who are mostly Russians have been called to identify the remains. Meanwhile, the deputy general director of Metrojet airline which operated the flight has cited an external impact as the only reasonable explanation for the crash.
